The preparation programs for First Reconciliation/First Eucharist and Confirmation recognize the place of parents as the primary catechists of their child. The programs assist the parents in fulfilling their responsibilities.

Program Description

The Archdiocesan guidelines state that all children preparing for First Eucharist must first prepare for First Reconciliation.

We prepare our children for First Reconciliation during the first part of the school year and celebrate the Sacrament in the beginning of February.  Preparation for First Eucharist begins at the end of  February and the Sacrament is celebrated at Masses during the Easter Season.

For both Sacraments there are parent meetings that must be attended by at least one parent/guardian. Sacrament workbooks that you and your child will complete will be distributed at the meetings. Completed workbooks will be collected by the Sacrament Coordinator prior to receiving the respective Sacrament.

Prior to receiving the First Reconciliation Sacrament, each child will be scheduled to meet with one of our priests.

In preparation for the reception of the First Eucharist, there will be a retreat day held on a Saturday morning. Children will learn about Jesus’ gift of Himself in the Eucharist.  Parents are asked to volunteer to help supervise and assist in the workshops.
